People all across Canada struggle to pay for dental care. Whether you’re a senior on a fixed income or a struggling family, everyone deserves access to oral health care. Yankee Valley Dental in Airdrie understands this and is proud to accept patients covered under the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP).

What is the Canadian Dental Care Plan

The CDCP is a federal program that makes oral health care affordable. This initiative provides dental care to lower- and middle-income Canadians by covering a portion of the costs of many oral health care services.

At Yankee Valley Dental in Airdrie, we work directly with the CDCP to provide coverage for:

  • Diagnostic and preventive dental care:
    • Exams
    • X-rays
    • Cleanings and scalings
  • Basic dental care:
    • Restorative dental care
    • Endodontic services such as root canals
    • Periodontal care including non-surgical gum disease management
  • Major dentistry
    • Oral surgery
    • Dentures and denture repair
    • Crowns
  • Anesthesia and sedation when necessary:
    • Medium, moderate, and deep sedation
    • General anaesthesia

Some treatments may require preauthorization prior to coverage. Refer to your CDCP Dental Benefits Guide or contact Airdrie’s Yankee

Valley Dental for more information.

To qualify, you must:

  • Not have access to dental insurance:
    • through an individual’s or family member’s employer benefits, including health and wellness accounts
    • through an individual or family member’s pension

How Do I Apply?

Your application for the CDCP can be completed online. To apply, simply provide your:

  • Social Insurance Number
  • Notice of Assessment for the previous tax year
  • Date of birth
  • Home and mailing address
  • A list of any dental coverage you have

Once you’ve been approved for dental care under the CDCP, you’ll receive your member benefits enrollment kit, including your member card and benefits start date. Be sure to book your dental appointment after your benefits start date to ensure coverage.

I’m an Employer – What Do I Need to Know?

The CDCP is limited to those who don’t have access to dental coverage through their employer. This entails any level, including a health spending account. As of 2023, as an employer, you are required to indicate on your employee’s T4 or T4A whether they or their family members are eligible.
