What You Need to Know
Sweets have a bad reputation for causing cavities, but acid can actually do damage much more quickly. What your consuming does not have to be ‘unhealthy’ to cause damage to teeth. Many people put lemon in their water to be healthy, but but acid can not only cause erosion, but it takes away the mineralizes in the teeth that are the building blocks of enamel. This can lead to cavities formation very quickly.
Latex allergies are becoming more and more common. We use only non-0latex gloves at our office. We also have latex and non-latex options available for our rubber dams. Signs of allergic reactions include but are not limited to: mild itchiness of the skin or eyes, runny nose, or more severe reactions like asthma and anaphylaxis.
The effectiveness of fluoride in preventing tooth decay has been well document for decades. However, too much fluoride ingestion can cause a condition called fluorosis. For children who have yet to learn to spit effectively, it is best to use non-fluoridated toothpaste, or use a grain sized amount once a day or every few days depending on cavity risk
